UNITED KINGDOM – OCTOBER 27: Internal view. This camera was designed by William Friese-Greene (1855-1921) and produced in association with A Lege and Co. It has many of the characteristics of the successful moving picture cameras of 1896, but was unable to take photographs at sufficient speed to produce a true moving picture effect. Having invented a means of projecting sequential photographs by lantern slides in the 1880s, Friese-Greene is hailed by some as the English inventor of cinematography, although he did not propose perforated strips of film for either photography or projection.
